So much to catch everyone up on! I’ll start my blog with a request about cleaning up the kids toys! OMG, can you say toy overload! Seriously, we have way too many toys and just STUFF. I started to feel overwhelmed with the amount of stuff around the house, so I had to do something! Well, the other day, my lovely children were being typical 3, 5 & 6 year olds and I lost my mind. So I decided that would be a great time to toss the toys and teach them a lesson. Here’s the run down:
1. The kids already had a bin they’ve been putting unwanted toys in. Those and several I picked out will be donated or taken to Grandparents homes!
2. The kids were being monsters. It didn’t matter if the 3 of them had their own toy to play with and if there were a ton of others to choose from, they fought. I’m over it.
3. Their toys they do play with are in bins I’ve put in the basement, they can earn these back!
5. We have moved onto their rooms and I am super proud of these 3 (well, let’s not sugar coat anything here, I did have to tell them if they don’t fill the bags, then Mommy will).
I felt like I was on the #TLC show and had my kids make those piles of “keep” “toss” and “sell” except I’m a mean mom and it’s was a now or never, I’m losing my flipping mind, fill a bag NOW and let’s move on.
I did some research and posted on my Facebook page about all of this. People were coming out of the woodworks with support and some didn’t think I should get rid of any of the toys. I loved the pictures that friends posted of their kids messes! Some of my followers are ok with that crazy mess and they swear to me that I’m going to miss these days. I think I should invite them over to clean up after 3 young children! One of my friends sent me this article that hit home, “Why I got rid of the toys” I really liked her philosophy behind her reasons of getting rid of the toys. I’m definitely not nearly as organized as this woman, but she gave me the inspiration I needed to toss the toys. While they were working on their toys, I was able to get a quick workout in!!!
6. The Donation
My mother picked them up (the kids told her to keep them at her house, hahaha). She said she’d donate them and then my father send me a picture of the toys spread out in her house! Thankfully my mom did donate
all most of them.
